About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from Liberal High School in 2005 and attended college at Seward County Community College from 2005-2007, and Kansas State University from 2009-2013. Originally I focussed on journalism, but eventually changed my degree to English Education once I tranferred to KSU in 2009. While I lived in Manhattan I worked a full-time job and attended classes part time.

I greatly value the education that I recieved from both of these institutions, and I still maintain professional and personal relationships with my professors and advisors from both SCCC and KSU.

Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor's of Science for English Education, 5-12

Certified for Speech and Theater 6-12

ESOL Certification Program from Newman University

Certified for Physical Education.

Professional Development:

AVID, Literacy First, Leadership EDGE, and Richard DuFour Educational Leadership.

Current Position:

  • Have taught 7th Grade ELA, Intensive Reading, and AVID for SMS and SRMS since 2015.
  • I currently am endorsed in 5th – 12th Grade ELA, English Speakers of Other Languages, Speech and Theater, and Physical Education.

Previous Position:

  • Student taught 8th ELA Grade at Ft. Riley Middle School, and 8th Grade ELA Junction City Middle School.
  • Graduated from Kansas State University in the Fall of 2013 with a B.S. in English Education.
  • Worked for a semester as a para for Manhattan High School, Autism Program.
  • Taught 11th Grade ELA, Speech and Forensics at Lindsborg High School.

Personal Information:

When I am not in the classroom I try to spend as much time as I can enjoying some form of physical activity. Not because I try to mind my waistline, calories, and personal achievements, but simply because I like to move around. Powerlifting has definitely taken over my fixation the last few years.

I try to get to a state park for fishing a few times a month, especially when the weather is nice. Taking my dogs, Claire and Harlow, for a run is a weekly goal.

When the weather turns bad, I can usually be found reading books that nobody cares about, and watching cartoons, horror movies, or football. My goal for this year is to read at least one book a week. When I have the time and money for it, I love to go to concerts, art galleries, and comedy shows.
